Rollup
Use Fund Operations → Incomes & Expenses → Rollup for an account-oriented lookthrough of income and expense source records. Account groups come from links through cash splits and their transactions; they are fund cash accounts, not GL accounts.
Scope and expand the account
The account grouping is built from settlement relationships. A source income or expense reaches an account through a cash-split link and that split’s parent transaction. The group therefore answers which source records are connected to cash recorded in this account. It does not show the account’s full cash balance or the source’s accounting recognition.
Because this is a lookthrough from sources to their links, one source can contribute to more than one account group. Read its link allocation rather than assuming every appearance represents another whole expense.
Choose Entity, optional From/To dates and Account. The dates filter Income Date or Expense Date, not the cash transaction's date, a service-period overlap or a journal date. Clear Account to see all matching groups, or choose No account to isolate source records with no recognized cash-split link.
Expand an account to inspect Type, Record, Value, Date, Category, Vendor, Description and Currency. Scroll horizontally when a column is outside the viewport. Type distinguishes Incomes from Expenses; it is not a paid or posted status.
Cedarbridge Example Fund LP, August 1–31, 2026, All accounts. Operating USD #1 is expanded. Its USD1,200 group amount summarizes the one displayed Expense #1; the child shows the same USD1,200.
Do not add the group amount to its child values again. The group row summarizes its children; it is not another transaction.
In this fictional example, Expense #1 has one cash-split link to Operating USD #1. Its linked amount is +USD1,200 in this source-oriented rollup; the actual cash split is -USD1,200. This group is neither the account's bank balance nor its GL balance.
Understand the linked amount
The link’s allocation identifies the portion assigned to that source-account relationship. A partial payment should therefore be interpreted at the linked portion’s scope. When the dataset substitutes the full source amount for a blank allocation, the displayed value no longer establishes how much was settled through that particular link.
For a linked source record, Value uses the stored allocated amount on the cash-split link. When that amount is absent, this dataset falls back to the full income/expense source amount; that fallback is not evidence of an allocated settlement amount.
A source record can appear more than once when it has multiple links, including links to different accounts. Compare Record IDs and currencies before treating rows as unique expenses or adding amounts. There is no FX conversion here; use a consistent currency scope when interpreting a sum.
Use Record Explorer to inspect individual splits and differences. Rollup does not calculate an unpaid residual for a partially linked source record, and repeated full-source fallback values can overstate a sum. It is a lookthrough, not a complete payable/receivable or payment reconciliation.
Understand No account
Same Entity and source-date range with Account set to No account. The result is empty because the only matching expense has a recognized cash-split link.
A source record with no recognized income/expense cash-split link is shown under No account at its full source amount. That absence of a link calls for investigation; it does not automatically mean the source is invalid or has no posted recognition.
Once any recognized link exists, the record no longer belongs to No account, even if the link is partial. For example, if only USD500 of a USD1,200 expense were linked, the expense would already leave No account while USD700 still needed settlement review. This explains the rule; the screenshot above shows the separate, fully linked USD1,200 Core expense. An empty No account result does not prove all amounts have been paid.
An account master with no matching income/expense source links also need not appear as a group. Find the account in Data → Accounts or Cash, rather than creating a duplicate.
Investigate and correct the owning record
Use the Record ID and Type to identify the source in Data. This rollup is read-only; correct an evidenced amount, date, Entity or category on the source record. For the wrong account, missing or partial settlement, inspect the linked cash transaction, split and source relationship in Record Explorer and Cash → Transaction Explorer before correcting that relationship.
Do not add another expense to compensate for a missing cash link, and do not change an amount merely to make a group total balance. Verify the result after the owning record or link is corrected.
For recognition or posting questions, inspect journals in Accounting Operations → Journal Explorer. No posted journal is present in this example; the Operating account group does not confirm posting. Use Cash Recon for cash-link exceptions.
