Integrity
Use Cash & Treasury → Cash → Integrity to investigate existing cash-split links and cash explicitly classified as Unapplied Cash. The page title is Link & Unapplied Integrity.
Start with the two sections
A link can exist and still point to the wrong business record or allocate the wrong amount. Bad Links examines such existing relationships, while Cash & Activity concentrates on missing associations. Its exception explains which comparison failed; the source evidence determines whether the link or a recorded fact actually needs correction.
Unapplied Cash is a different state: money has been recorded but its supported business application is unresolved. Keeping it explicitly parked preserves that uncertainty. Assigning an arbitrary owner or linking an unrelated income would hide the question rather than answer it.
Select Entity. Bad Links and Unapplied Cash have separate table filters and searches. This is a current operational review, not a historical As of Date report. Age uses today's date; date selections from other Cash tabs do not limit these queries.
Fictional Entity #2, before correction: Cash Split #5 (USD400, October 6) points to Income #3 (USD420, October 7). Bad Links shows Amount & Date Mismatch: −USD20 and −1 day. Cash Split #6 is separately Open / Awaiting Related Link for USD80, with Link Count 0. Its age is 13 days on the October 21 capture date and changes with today's date.
Follow the USD400 link correction
The receipt's fictional reference TRN-B identifies Incomes #2: USD400 on October 6 as the intended income. Income #3 is a different USD420 record dated October 7. The correction changes the link's target while preserving the valid receipt and income amounts and dates. In your own records, confirm equivalent supporting evidence before editing.
- Open Cash → Data and select Cedarbridge Matching Practice USD #3, with a date range covering October 6. Expand Cash Split Links. Locate existing Link #4, Cash Split #5, Related Type Incomes, Related Id #3, Allocated Amount +400. Collapse the other data sections if useful.
- Double-click that row’s Related Id cell. In the native selector, choose Fictional training interest income B — TRN-B #2. In the demonstrated table this selection saves the cell; wait for Saved. Do not add a second link or change the cash/source dates, amounts, type or +400 allocation.
- Reload and inspect the same Link #4. Its target is now Incomes #2. The separately created Link #5 associates Cash Split #4 with Incomes #1 for +250.
Saved Cash Split Links after reload: Link #4 connects Split #5 to Income #2 for +400; Link #5 connects Split #4 to Income #1 for +250. The current Related Id identifies the saved destination.
- Return to Integrity, keep Entity #2 and refresh. Reopen the source records and recheck Cash & Activity as well as the relevant Cash Recon → Cash Splits Recon or Unapplied Cash Recon control. Transaction Explorer supplies the wider cash/accounting chain.
The amount/date exception no longer appears under the same Bad Links filters. The USD80 split remains Open, unowned and unlinked. Income #3 still has no cash receipt linked in Cash & Activity. Correcting the link does not establish bank clearance, GL reconciliation or period sign-off.
Investigate Bad Links
Date and amount checks ask different questions. A date difference can be a valid settlement lag. The amount comparison can combine allocations across several links to the same source, so the displayed individual split amount need not subtract directly from the source to produce Amount Diff. Inspect the whole relationship before changing a true event date or amount.
Bad Links returns one exception row per existing link, covering a missing related record, date difference, absolute-amount discrepancy or unexpected cash direction.
Pure Sign Mismatch is hidden by default. When reviewing populated results, open Filter and remove only the condition excluding Sign Mismatch to include those exceptions; retain the link-section filter. An empty initial table does not establish that every direction check passed.
Read Type first. Use Hide fields to reveal What is wrong when available; it explains the comparison. Open the typed Related, Cash Split and Link references, plus Transaction when needed.
Cash Date / Activity Date / Date Diff compare actual stored dates. Date Diff is cash date minus activity date. Exact date differences can reflect legitimate settlement lag. Do not replace a true recognition/event date with a bank date just to clear an exception.
Understand the amount comparison
For subscription/investment activities, expenses and incomes, the comparison sums effective linked amounts across the related record. An explicit Allocated Amount is used; otherwise the full split amount is used only when that split has at most one link. Transfers are checked per linked leg.
Differences greater than 0.02 after two-decimal rounding of absolute values are Amount Mismatches. Exactly two cents passes this particular rule. Other reconciliation pages can use different tolerances.
The displayed Cash Amount remains the individual full split amount, while Activity Amount is the source amount and Amount Diff can use the combined allocation. They need not subtract directly. An activity and its aggregate difference can repeat on several exception rows; do not sum them as independent exposure.
If a split has several links but no explicit Allocated Amount, the check may be unable to compare amounts. For a non-transfer activity, that missing allocation can also prevent the combined comparison across its links. No dedicated incomplete-allocation exception is produced in these cases. Inspect all links and allocations even when no Amount Mismatch appears.
Understand cash direction
Expected cash sign depends on the target:
- Investment activities and incomes: same direction as the activity amount.
- Eligible subscription activities and expenses: opposite direction.
- Transfers: outflow negative, inflow positive, using principal role or account/sign inference.
Single-link direction checks use the split sign; multi-link checks use Allocated Amount. Missing explicit allocations can suppress multi-link direction checking. A sign difference between a bank receipt and its subscription contribution is not automatically an error.
These checks do not validate currency agreement, general ownership correctness, bank clearance or journal posting. Links with missing required cash-side parents can be absent because the query joins through the split, transaction and account. Reversed and future-dated transactions are not independently excluded.
Review Unapplied Cash separately
Purpose identifies why this population is being held for review. A nonzero, ownerless and unlinked amount can be a correctly recorded unresolved item. An owner or ordinary business link conflicts with that parked state under this page’s rules, so recheck purpose and evidence together before application.
This section has one row per split whose Purpose is Unapplied Cash:
- Open / Awaiting Related Link: parked cash with a nonzero amount, no owner and no link.
- Needs Review: missing/zero amount, unexpected owner or an unexpected business link.
The issue follows a priority order; inspect the whole split even if only one Type is shown. Open is an unresolved parked item, not proof of a failed payment. This page does not age it into an automatic breach or approve its release.
Correct the owning record and recheck
Confirm source evidence and the intended association. For a missing target, check Related Type + Related Id. For amount issues, inspect all allocations. For an owner/link inconsistency, determine whether the purpose, owner or association is genuinely wrong.
Make an authorized correction through Cash → Data or the owning business record. Preserve correct cash amounts and dates. If the existing facts are valid but an exception remains, send the typed IDs and explanation to the responsible operator; do not force the table to clear.
These tables are read-only and support row selection for investigation/context. They do not correct records, post journals, lock rows or sign off a period.
An empty Bad Links table can still hide sign-only exceptions or omit an amount comparison where allocations are incomplete. Before changing a date or reclassifying unapplied cash, confirm the source evidence and inspect all relevant links.
