Where to Work in OpenAdmin
Start with the question you cannot yet answer. Use an app to find the relevant records, then follow their references into the next part of the investigation.
Establish who and what
Use Organization for the fund Entity, share classes and fund-owned accounts. Use Investor Profiles for Investor relationships, legal subscribers and contacts.
A subscriber's participation belongs in Subscriptions. The fund's position in an external investment belongs in Investments. Use their Data tabs for setup and Activity tabs for dated events.
Follow one event
Suppose a contribution exists but you do not know whether it has bank support. Start from that subscription's activity or Record Explorer, then follow its cash link into Cash → Transaction Explorer.
The saved core Cedarbridge receipt demonstrates why this matters. Its feed, transaction, split and contribution are linked, but the Accounting stage says Missing journal. The next job is accounting investigation, not another cash receipt.
For an income or expense, start in Incomes & Expenses. For who participates in that item or an investment, inspect Allocations.
Investigate a difference
Open Cash Recon for bank, transaction, split, transfer, unapplied-cash or balance differences. Open FundOps Recon for notices, operational completeness, allocation coverage and supporting documents.
A failed check is a starting point. Follow its existing record references, compare the evidence and correct the confirmed cause in its owning record. Recheck the same filters afterwards. A valid timing difference may remain; not every exception needs a new or changed financial record.
See Cash & Fund Operations Reconciliation for exception explanations and the supported [IGNORE EXCEPTION] convention. Excluding a record from a configured check does not correct or approve it.
Review the books and period results
Use Accounting Operations for journals, source-to-posting investigation, valuation records and capital accounts. Use Fees & Capital Allocations to inspect saved fee and period allocation results. Those review tabs do not themselves execute a calculation or post a journal.
Use Accounting Review & Close for GL, Gross NAV, Fees, Capital Allocations and Final Close checks, applying fee work where the fund's terms require it. Continue to Reports for the intended output.
Use Data Locks when a reviewed record needs protection or a locked record needs an authorized correction. Recheck scope on every destination: an Entity, date or period retained from another tab may not apply there.
