What this tab does
Maintain the fund entities, their share classes and the fund’s own operating accounts. These records establish the relationships used by subscriptions, cash and accounting.
Use Fund Structure to check legal setup or correct a confirmed descriptive or ownership-reference error. Creating an account here creates an account record; it does not create cash, a bank connection, an opening balance or a journal.
Find your way around
Cedarbridge Example Fund LP (Entity 1) is selected, showing its entity record, Class A and two fund accounts. Other example entities are outside this selection. Scroll horizontally or use a permitted editor to inspect values truncated in the grid.
- Entity selector: scopes the records shown in the three sections. It changes the view, not access permissions. This tab has no accounting-period selector.
- Entities: one record per fund or administered legal entity.
- Share Classes: one record per class, linked to its entity.
- Accounts: one record per fund bank or brokerage account, with its own entity reference. These are different from investor payment accounts in Investor Profiles.
- Section headings: expand or collapse each table independently. Use the table’s search, Filter and Hide fields controls to investigate its records.
Check the structure
- Open Organization → Fund Structure and select the intended Entity.
- In Entities, confirm the ID and name. Description, notes and tags describe that entity; renaming it does not create a new legal entity.
- In Share Classes, confirm the class name, legal name and Entity reference. Check the referenced record, particularly when names are similar.
- In Accounts, confirm the account’s Entity, account name, institution, currency and status. Scroll horizontally for opening and closing dates and secondary details.
- For the fictional example, Class A and both Cedarbridge Example Operating USD and Cedarbridge Example Reserve USD belong to Cedarbridge Example Fund LP. The two accounts use USD.
Create or correct a record
An Editor, Admin or Owner can make permitted changes; the available controls also depend on the field, table configuration and record lock.
For a missing record, first check the Entity selector and table filters and confirm it does not already exist. Create a missing entity in Entities and verify its new ID, then select that entity before creating dependent records. Choose Insert in the relevant section and complete Add record. For a share class or account, explicitly select the correct Entity reference. Choose Insert record, wait for completion, refresh and verify the new ID and relationship.
For an approved correction to an editable text cell, double-click the cell, enter the correction and press Enter to save. Other field types use their own permitted editors and save controls. If an edit-mode switch is shown, enable it first. Wait for the save to finish, then refresh and confirm the value on the same record ID. An edit-mode switch does not remove a record’s row lock.
Changing an Entity reference can affect downstream records. Confirm the legal setup and existing use before changing that relationship. Do not create duplicates to work around a locked record or a descriptive mistake.
Example account setup
Cedarbridge Example Fund LP has one entity record, Class A and two distinct USD fund accounts. Both accounts reference that fund entity. The legal subscriber's payment account is maintained separately in Investor Profiles. These setup records do not create a cash movement or an accounting balance.
If something looks wrong
- A class or account is missing: check Entity, search and filters; then inspect whether the record belongs to another entity before inserting anything.
- A record appears under the wrong entity: verify the legal setup, inspect its Entity reference and correct that owning record only with appropriate authority. Return to the original filter and refresh.
- A field is read-only: check role, field writability, edit mode and row-lock state. Ask an authorized reviewer to resolve an access or lock issue with the exact table and record ID.
The setup is ready for subsequent work when the intended records have the correct relationships and saved corrections remain after refresh. Account setup alone does not establish a cash or accounting balance.
