Bank Tie-Out
Use Cash & Treasury → Cash Recon → Bank Tie-Out to compare the bank balance, system cash and posted cash GL for each account and currency. The differences help locate missing cash records or accounting. This grid reviews existing records; it does not execute payments or posting.
Set the account and date
Check the organization, select Entity and Account, and set As of Date explicitly. The control selects the latest usable bank balance snapshot on or before that date. Closing Balance is used when available; Available Balance is a fallback and should be understood before interpreting the result.
If the snapshot is older than As of Date, its status is Stale. Movements and GL comparisons stop at that snapshot's date, rather than silently proving the requested later date. A missing snapshot is not a zero bank balance.
The system calculation starts from a prior bank balance, or the current snapshot's opening balance when no prior snapshot is available, then adds non-reversed cash transactions in the resulting movement window. Missing opening evidence may produce an Assumed Zero basis and a blocked result; do not treat an assumed opening as verified.
Interpret the differences
Identified Cash Breaks is bank-feed movement minus normalized transaction movement. Unexplained Difference is Bank − System minus Identified Cash Breaks. These explain the bank-to-system bridge; they are not a complete measure of the system-to-GL gap. Zero Unexplained Difference therefore does not establish readiness when the system-to-GL bridge is unresolved.
The check tolerates differences of up to 0.01 in the account currency. Read Status with Description / Difference. Review statement freshness and opening evidence, then check Bank − System and System − GL separately. Ready means these checks pass for the selected scope; it does not record reviewer sign-off or close the period.
Read the fictional example
Native app with fictional Cedarbridge Example Fund LP, its Operating USD account and August 31, 2026 selected. No customer data is shown.
The example has a verified zero opening and three movements: +USD100,000 subscription receipt, −USD40,000 investment funding and −USD1,200 administration payment. The current bank snapshot and system cash both show USD58,800.
The account is still Blocked. Bank Balance and System Cash agree at USD58,800, so Bank − System is USD0. Posted GL Cash is USD0, leaving System − GL of USD58,800.
That difference names the remaining work: no qualifying posted cash GL lines have been found for this account and currency. The cash records explain the money movement; the selected accounting evidence does not yet explain that cash. Inspect the journal and its account/currency dimensions; another receipt or payment would duplicate the cash rather than resolve the accounting gap.
Expand the evidence
Expand the account to see Bank Statement, Bank Feed, System Cash, Accounting and Differences. The parent's “(5)” counts stage groups, not five payments. The three Bank Feed rows and three System Cash rows are two representations of the same movements, not six economic events.
Open a stage's chevron where available to inspect its source rows. Accounting (1) · No postings here is a placeholder explaining absent posted cash lines, not a journal. Scroll horizontally to see Record, Journal, Date, Description / Difference, Currency, Record Amount, Debit and Credit. Available record references identify their own source table; Journal references identify journal entries.
Bank and System rows cover the movement window. The GL cash balance is cumulative through the bank snapshot date and includes only posted journals for the selected entity, bank-account dimension and currency, with GL accounts classified in the cash report group. A journal elsewhere in Accounting is therefore not sufficient evidence that it belongs in this account's tie-out.
Count each account/currency parent balance once. Bank Statement and Differences repeat summary balances as context; do not add them to the parent or to transaction amounts. Keep currencies separate.
Investigate at the owning source
For a bank-to-system gap, inspect the snapshot, Bank Feed and System Cash records, their dates and amounts, then use the specific feed/transaction checks in Cash Recon. Inspect Cash → Transaction Explorer when you need split, activity and journal lineage.
For a system-to-GL gap, inspect Accounting Operations → Journal Explorer and the GL checks in Accounting Review & Close. Verify actual posting, the cash GL classification, entity, account and currency dimensions, and opening entries. The example's Differences explanation identifies absent posted cash GL lines; do not create a second receipt or payment to force the balances to agree.
After an authorized correction in the owning record or process, refresh under the same Entity, Account and As of Date. Recheck snapshot freshness, both bridges, the relevant source IDs and the journal lines. Locks and any separate review procedure remain distinct.
What remains unresolved
This account is Blocked because System − GL is USD58,800, even though Bank − System is zero. Accounting shows a No postings placeholder rather than a journal. Selecting a later date without a newer bank snapshot makes the evidence Stale; it does not establish the later bank balance.
