Allocation Recipients
An accounting allocation divides a source result among recipients. The run's total can agree with source P&L even when one recipient receives the wrong capital effect. Each run line holds a recipient's signed income, expense, realized and unrealized components; the capital movements linked to that line show what was recorded for that recipient.
Open Accounting → Fees & Capital Allocations → Allocation Recipients to compare those assigned results with their capital-account delivery. Establish the exact run and version first so that an earlier calculation is not mistaken for an additional allocation.
Isolate the intended calculation
Choose Entity, Accounting Period, optionally Share Class, Allocation Run and Recon Status. One row represents one allocation-run line; a run can have many recipient lines.
By default, the page includes all non-voided run versions whose Start/End dates are contained within the period. This includes earlier and subperiod versions. Select the same explicit run as Allocation Tie-Out before comparing totals. The dropdown's exact-period options may not list every contained subperiod run.
No accounting allocation runs or recipient lines exist in the fictional organization. All is selected. No capital posting, journal generation or finalized allocation is demonstrated by this empty state.
Read the recipient result
Allocated Total is the net of the line's signed components: income or gains can increase the result while expenses or losses reduce it. Capital Account Impact is what the linked movements actually changed. Actual impact less allocated total gives Variance, so a negative difference means less net capital was delivered than the line assigned. The comparison explains accounting delivery; neither side is a new cash payment.
Review Allocation Run Line, Allocation Run, Share Class, Recipient, Capital Account, Status / Recon Issue, Allocation Percent and Currency.
The Allocated Total header group retains its total when collapsed; expand it for income, expense, realized and unrealized components. Capital Account Impact sums movements linked to that allocation-run line. Variance = Capital Account Impact − Allocated Total.
A hypothetical recipient line with USD100 income and −USD40 expense has Allocated Total of +USD60. If its linked capital movements total +USD40, Variance is −USD20. Inspect that exact line's components and movements to explain the shortfall; do not compare it with a different run version or add a balancing movement before finding the cause. No such line exists in the empty native example.
These are allocation/accounting amounts, not additional cash flows. Keep currencies and run versions separate.
Follow an exception
- Open the Allocation Run Line and Allocation Run references. Confirm the exact version, dates and scheme context.
- Inspect Capital Account and the intended recipient. Review actual capital transactions with source lineage to this run line.
- Read Recon Issue for missing impacts, account/currency discrepancies, amount differences or conflicting/unposted linked journals. Rounded amount differences greater than 0.01 fail the implemented amount test.
- Review Draft/computed runs through the authorized accounting-allocation workflow; they show Needs Review.
- Route wrong source P&L/dimensions to Accounting and wrong allocation inputs/recipients to the allocation owner. Refresh after the authorized correction.
Ready applies to this comparison only. A recipient can pass without a linked journal, while multiple linked journals or one linked non-Posted journal cause a blocker. The control also does not always require exactly one capital transaction. Inspect the actual movements and use the other posting controls before concluding that the recipient's accounting is complete.
Use Txn Posting for the component-level capital-account checks and Allocation Tie-Out for the source-P&L/run total comparison. None of these labels executes computation, review, finalization or posting. Selection, where available, supplies context.
