Investment Notices Recon
Use Fund Operations → FundOps Recon → Investment Notices Recon to compare an Investment's Capital Call or Distribution Notice with the investment activities linked to that notice.
A notice here is an Investment Activity record, not the uploaded notice document. Each row represents one notice. An actual Contribution or Distribution is a separate activity, connected through Notice Id; matching descriptions or amounts alone do not create that relationship.
Start with the right population
A notice establishes an expected investment event. Responding contributions or distributions record what was booked against that expectation, and Notice Id supplies the explicit connection. The control compares the notice with those responses rather than pairing records merely because their descriptions or amounts look similar.
A partial response leaves an amount difference; a response for another Investment or an incompatible category is a relationship problem even if the amount agrees. Cash is the next question: an activity responding to a notice still requires its own settlement evidence.
Choose Entity, As of Date and, optionally, Investment. Recon Status defaults to Exceptions. Choose All to include passing notices, or a specific status to investigate that population.
For this example, select Cedarbridge Example Fund LP #1, August 31, 2026, All, and All investments.
Harbor Investment Activity #1 is a July 10 Capital Call for −USD40,000. One linked Contribution, Investment Activity #2 dated July 15, also records −USD40,000. Difference is zero and the notice is Matched.
Investment Entity scope is derived from current Share Class-owned allocation entries. It is not an ownership snapshot at the notice date. Clear Entity when investigating an unallocated Investment. Parent joins can also exclude broken relationships; use Activity Integrity for reference investigation rather than treating this list as a complete orphan audit.
Compare amounts and currencies
Several activities can respond to one notice, so the comparison first nets their qualifying signed values, then compares that magnitude with the notice magnitude. Agreement means the recorded responses cover the expected amount under this rule. It does not validate every component’s sign, and it cannot convert one currency into another. Opposing responses deserve inspection even where their net passes.
The Reconciliation header group keeps Notice Amount, Activity Amount and Difference visible. Expand it to compare Notice Currency and Activity Currency. Expand Notice Details for Due Date, category and description; Notice Date remains visible when collapsed.
The same notice after expansion and horizontal scrolling: both currencies are USD, Notice Date is July 10 and Due Date is July 15. Due Date provides context; it is not tested as an overdue condition.
Activity Amount sums the qualifying activities linked through Notice Id. Multiple linked activities are supported. Difference compares the magnitude of that net sum with the magnitude of the notice amount. An absolute Difference of 0.01 or less passes the amount check; currencies are not converted.
Do not use this magnitude comparison to validate every sign or individual component. Opposing signed activities can net. Notice and activity totals are different perspectives on the same obligation, not amounts to add together.
Interpret the result
Read the result as the location of the break. Unmatched means the required response relationship was not found. Mismatched can mean the responses point to the wrong owner or category, use inconsistent currency, or leave an amount gap. Matched resolves this notice-to-activity comparison, while the dates of the response and its cash remain separate evidence.
- Invalid: missing required notice amount/currency, or a linked activity missing currency at the relevant check.
- Unmatched: no qualifying linked investment activity.
- Mismatched: wrong Investment, incompatible activity category, inconsistent currency, or an amount difference above 0.01.
- Matched: the configured checks passed.
Read Recon Issue for the first applicable issue. A Capital Call expects Contribution categories; a Distribution Notice expects the configured Distribution/Redemption categories. Matched is not comprehensive validation of every activity field.
As of Date limits the notice date, not the dates of linked activities. The total uses current qualifying links. In this example the July 10 cutoff still shows Matched using the July 15 Contribution. This is not evidence that payment had occurred by July 10.
Matched does not prove cash settlement, timely payment, document completeness or accounting posting. In-kind activities are not excluded from this comparison; inspect settlement method and actual cash separately.
Investigate and correct safely
Open the Investment Notice reference to inspect its record. Activity Explorer → Open explorer opens Fund Overview's explorer focused on that exact notice, with the report cutoff. It does not automatically gather every linked Contribution/Distribution. Find those children in Investments → Activity and inspect their Notice Id before tracing their cash.
The current Related Activities count link opens Allocation Coverage rather than the notice's related-activity detail and can reset the date. Use the native app tabs and source references for investigation; check destination Entity and date.
Correct an evidenced notice, activity field or Notice Id relationship through its owning workflow, respecting permissions and locks. Do not insert a duplicate Contribution, reverse a sign or change an amount merely to clear the control. Refresh in the same scope, then choose All to verify the repaired notice.
Rows can supply context to an available assistant workflow; selection does not execute a correction.
