Balance Snapshot
Use Cash & Treasury → Cash → Balance Snapshot to compare the selected bank/system cash source with ownership attributed through cash splits. This is an operational snapshot, not a GL reconciliation or an FX-converted liquidity calculation.
Compare the cash source with ownership
The physical account answers where cash is held; split ownership answers which Entity or Share Class is attributed the movements. This snapshot places a selected balance source beside that attributed cash. The two can agree when they cover the same movements and dates, but they are calculated from different evidence.
Read Available Cash with its source and source date, then read Attributed with the eligible owned splits through the cutoff. Unallocated is their difference. A residual does not identify a cause on its own: an older bank snapshot can lag valid attributed movements, just as genuinely unassigned ownership can leave a gap.
Select Cedarbridge Example Fund LP #1, August 31, 2026, and Share Classes for Owner grouping.
Available Cash and Attributed are both USD58,800; Unallocated is zero. Bank Account Detail uses the August 31 Bank Feed balance. Class A has three contributing splits, totaling +100,000 −40,000 −1,200.
After changing Entity or date, wait for the queries and confirm that the page title, cards and tables reflect the same cutoff. If they disagree, use Refresh data in the app's top navigation and recheck before interpreting the result.
Entity scopes the legal bank account's Entity. It does not filter by a split owner's Entity. Account and Date Range selections from Data do not scope this page.
Accounts appear when they have an eligible balance-feed snapshot or transaction history. The Reserve account has neither in this example, so Accounts = 1 does not mean only one account is configured. If an account has balances in several currencies, the card can count more than one contributing balance row for that account.
Check source and freshness before using the balance
For each account/currency, the calculation prefers the latest balance-feed snapshot on or before As of Date, using Available Balance, then Closing Balance, then Opening Balance. It uses that stored balance unchanged; it does not roll later transactions forward onto an older snapshot.
If no usable feed balance exists, the fallback sums signed transactions through the cutoff whose status is not Reversed. Despite the table subtitle saying “posted transactions,” the query does not restrict this fallback to Posted. It does not reconstruct a missing opening balance or establish a GL balance.
Read the balance-source date and Source alongside the requested As of Date. If a feed row has no usable balance, the displayed source label/date alone may not reveal the transaction fallback; inspect the underlying balance feed and transactions.
At July 10, the latest bank snapshot is July 4, with a zero balance. The July 5 receipt already contributes USD100,000 of attributed cash. Available is zero and Unallocated is −USD100,000. This illustrates an older source balance being used unchanged; it is not an instruction to remove valid ownership.
The source snapshots can be inspected in Data in the left sidebar → Accounts → Account Balance Feed. Confirm genuine statement/feed evidence before changing a balance record.
Understand Attributed and Unallocated
Attributed sums signed splits through the cutoff on non-reversed transactions, with Entity/Share Class owner IDs and purpose other than Unapplied Cash. “Assigned” reflects those fields; it is not independent validation of every owner reference.
Unallocated = Available Cash − Attributed. It can reflect unassigned ownership, excluded Unapplied Cash, source/date differences or bank/system discrepancies. It is not simply a sum of unapplied receipts, nor a list of missing activity links. Investigate a residual before allocating or reassigning cash to force zero.
Owner grouping changes presentation:
- Share Classes: class-owned cash by class; directly Entity-owned cash appears as General / Fund-Level.
- Entities: rolls class ownership up to its Entity.
- All Owners: retains direct owner types.
It does not change legal account ownership or run an allocation. The attribution table includes an Unallocated residual row even when zero. % of Available is blank when the denominator is zero.
The example is entirely USD. Headline amounts combine raw currencies and display a dollar symbol without FX conversion. Do not treat mixed-currency totals or the combined residual as converted reporting-currency cash; inspect account and owner currencies separately.
For investigation, open account/owner references, inspect the relevant splits in Transaction Explorer, and use Cash Recon → Bank Tie-Out for the bank → system cash → GL comparison. A zero residual here does not prove reconciliation, posting or close completion.
These snapshot tables are read-only; they do not execute payments or reassign cash.
The August 31 figures agree because the bank snapshot and attributed movements cover the same date and total. The July 10 negative residual uses an older zero bank snapshot alongside the July 5 receipt. Inspect source dates and balance evidence before changing a valid cash-split owner.
