Cash & Activity
Use Cash & Treasury → Cash → Cash & Activity to find cash splits without a business association and source activities without any cash link. Use Transaction Explorer to investigate an existing split's full chain.
Find records without a business association
A cash split says that a portion of money moved; an activity, income or expense says what business event should explain it. The queue puts unassociated records from those different sides within reach for investigation. The two rows can describe one intended settlement, so their amounts do not represent two cash flows.
The queue’s test is association, not completion. Cash becomes labeled Matched when a link exists. A source record leaves the candidate population once any link exists, even if only a portion is settled or the target is wrong. Investigate partial amounts and bad relationships through existing links and reconciliation rather than expecting every unresolved balance to stay here.
Select Entity and optional Origin Table. Origin lets you focus on Cash Splits, Subscription Activities, Investment Activities, Expenses or Incomes. Use the table's search, Filter and Sort to narrow the returned records.
This page has no As of Date or Date Range control. Dates selected on other Cash tabs do not limit this queue.
Fictional Cedarbridge Onboarding Practice LP #2, All origins, Status ≠ Matched: three rows—Income #2 for USD400, Cash Split #4 for USD250, and Income #1 for USD250. The cash and income rows are separate records; the USD250 pair represents one intended receipt, not two receipts.
The screenshots follow the same October example before and after two saved link changes, using a separate fictional USD account. The earlier image shows the queue before those changes; the later image shows what remains unresolved. The pending subscription remains unfunded, and the example contains no bank feed or posted journal. Initially, Cash Split #5 points to the wrong income, Income #3. Both records are hidden from the unmatched queue because a link exists. The USD80 Unapplied Cash Split #6 is also excluded here and is reviewed in Integrity.
The page returns two different populations:
- Cash splits: eligible linked and unlinked splits; the default table filter hides those labeled Matched.
- Activities, expenses and incomes: only eligible records with no cash-split link at all. Already-linked activities are not returned, even if the link is partial or incorrect.
Matched means a link exists. It does not verify the target, allocated amount, date, currency, direction or settlement completeness. A partially applied split can be hidden as Matched, while its partially settled activity is absent altogether. Use the source-side settlement and Cash Recon controls to investigate remaining balances.
Reveal the existing cash records
Removing the Matched display filter reveals linked cash splits that were already returned by the dataset. It cannot recover linked source activities that the dataset never returned. This distinction explains why clearing filters does not turn the queue into a complete settlement ledger.
Open Filter, remove the Status — Not equals — Matched condition and choose Apply Filters. This changes the table view, not the underlying links. Restore that condition when returning to the unmatched queue.
In the initial example, removing the filter reveals Cash Split #5 as Matched even though it points to the wrong income. Restore Status ≠ Matched after investigating. Removing this filter reveals linked cash splits; it does not return linked activity records.
Use Origin Table + Source Id to identify a record. A Subscription Activity ID is not interchangeable with an Expense or Cash Split ID. Open the Source Id reference, then inspect the originating record and its real cash-split links.
Normalized Name is a recognition aid assembled from the source/counterparty context. Investor Name can be enriched by an exact name-alias match; neither is proof of investor identity or ownership. Share Class supplies context; an investment can show several classes from its current allocation relationships.
Follow the link correction
The Match Suggestions guide shows how an authorized operator links Cash Split #4 to Income #1 with USD250 allocated. The Integrity guide corrects the existing link from Cash Split #5 to Income #2, retaining its USD400 allocation and all source amounts/dates.
At this earlier saved checkpoint, after both associations were rechecked, the same unmatched filter showed only Income #3: USD420 dated October 7, 2026, with no cash receipt linked. Removing the mistaken link to this income reveals its unresolved state; it does not create a receipt or a posted receivable. The USD80 unapplied receipt remains in Integrity.
Read amounts and scope correctly
Scroll horizontally for Amount, Absolute Amount and Currency. Amount is the signed original source amount. Absolute Amount removes its sign; neither is a remaining unpaid balance. Different source layers can use different sign conventions.
Do not total all origins as one cash balance or sum signed and absolute columns together. When both unlinked sides appear, they may describe the same intended movement. Mixed-currency totals are not FX-converted.
The Entity filter uses the attribution available on each record. For cash, it uses the owner's entity or share-class entity before the legal account's entity. For subscriptions it uses the target share class; for investments it uses allocation relationships; for expenses and incomes it uses their Entity. Records with no derived Entity can still appear under a selected Entity, so confirm the actual account, owner and source before linking them.
In the current Learning Sandbox, Entity #2 with All origins also shows Willow Example Software’s Investment Activity #3 for −USD4,000 alongside Income #3 for USD420. Willow’s row has no Share Class attribution in this queue. It remains eligible because an investment with no derived allocation Entity is included under the selected Entity. Its appearance does not establish that Entity #2 owns the investment or that one of its receipts should be linked to it. Inspect the investment and its allocation relationships before making a match. The earlier after-image above is a checkpoint of the income-link correction, rather than a promise that the queue will always contain only one row.
The queue excludes capital-call/distribution-notice categories and Stock subcategories from capital activities, and excludes return-of-funds/internal-transfer cash and unapplied splits. It does not independently exclude reversed transactions or all noncash settlement methods such as In Kind. Before treating an activity as unpaid cash, check its actual category, settlement method and existing relationships.
Investigate and return
- Identify the exact source type and ID, amount, currency and date.
- Inspect the business purpose, owner, evidence and all current links. If a record is missing, check scope and eligibility before creating anything.
- Use Match Suggestions only to investigate possible pairs. Create or correct a relationship through the authorized cash/source workflow, with the appropriate allocated amount.
- Refresh, reopen the same typed IDs and check Integrity and the relevant Cash Recon control. Disappearance from this queue alone proves no successful reconciliation.
The table is read-only and supports row selection for context. Selecting a row does not create a match, settle an activity or post accounting.
Income #3 reappears after the wrong link is removed because it no longer has any cash receipt linked. An empty Match Suggestions page does not settle that USD420 income. For partially linked activities absent from this queue, inspect their existing links and remaining settlement in the source app and Cash Recon.
