Balances
Use Cash & Treasury → Cash Recon → Balances to understand how recorded cash movements are attributed across owners and physical accounts.
Each row groups cash movements by owner, Account and Currency. Rows are separated further when their ownership status or issue differs. These amounts describe operational attribution; they are not independently verified bank or GL balances.
Choose the scope
A physical account identifies where cash moved. An owner identifies the Entity or Share Class to which those movements are attributed. The same account can therefore contain several owner balances, and one owner can have balances in several accounts. This view groups those intersections so attribution can be reviewed without changing the bank account itself.
Select Entity and As of Date, then use search, Filter and Sort to narrow the table. Entity follows the physical account's legal entity. The cutoff uses the parent transaction's Date.
Fictional Cedarbridge Example Fund LP #1, August 31, 2026: Class A has USD58,800 in Operating Account #1. The recorded movements are +100,000 contribution, −40,000 investment funding and −1,200 administration expense.
Read Owner Type, Owner Record, Account, Currency, Cash Balance, Owner Status and Owner Issue together. Scroll horizontally for Cash Splits, Entity and Latest Activity. Cmd/Ctrl-click an owner or account reference to inspect the actual record.
Understand the balance
The total comes from recorded movements assigned to each group. It has no bank opening balance to turn the result into an independently verified account balance. When splits exist, they supply the movement portions; when none exists, the full transaction can enter as Unassigned. A partly split transaction needs its separate completeness check because this aggregation does not recreate the missing portion.
When a transaction has splits, this page sums their signed amounts. A transaction with no splits contributes its full amount as Unassigned, with a Cash Splits count of zero. Once splits exist, the page does not reconstruct any unallocated remainder of the parent transaction; check split completeness in Account Transaction Splits Recon.
Splits with Purpose Unapplied Cash are excluded. Investigate them separately in Unapplied Cash Recon.
Fictional Cedarbridge Onboarding Practice LP #2, October 21, 2026: USD650 is assigned to Entity #2 in Account #3. Another USD80 receipt is unapplied, so it is absent here. This account's recorded receipts total USD730; USD650 is not its complete bank cash balance.
Keep currencies separate. This page does not convert currencies or add an opening balance from a bank snapshot. It uses transaction/split records; compare bank evidence, system cash and GL in Bank Tie-Out.
Interpret ownership correctly
Owner resolution and saved ownership are distinct. This analysis can infer a unique owner from business relationships when no owner type is stored, which can make the grouped attribution usable without repairing the underlying split. Inspect Cash Splits Recon to determine whether valid owner fields were actually saved, and inspect economic evidence to establish that the owner is appropriate.
- Assigned: the resolved owner is an existing Entity or Share Class.
- Unassigned: no owner could be resolved.
- Invalid: incomplete, unsupported or nonexistent ownership, or conflicting derived owners. Read Owner Issue.
A stored Owner Type takes precedence. When it is absent, a unique owner can be derived from current business relationships—for example a subscription's Share Class or an applicable investment allocation. That derivation is for this analysis; it does not save an owner back to the cash split.
Consequently, Assigned here does not prove valid stored ownership in Cash Splits Recon, correct economic attribution, full activity settlement or successful reconciliation.
Investigate and correct
- Record the account, owner, currency and cutoff. Check whether unapplied cash or an incomplete split explains the apparent difference.
- Open Cash → Transaction Explorer and use the same Entity and cutoff. Identify the relevant splits and trace their activities and accounting; this aggregate row is not itself a source transaction.
- Use Data in Cash for an authorized correction to Cash Splits or Cash Split Links. If a derived owner is wrong, investigate the underlying subscription/allocation relationship. Preserve factual cash amounts and respect locks.
- Refresh Balances and recheck the affected split, activity and bank/GL controls. Do not assign an arbitrary owner or add a balancing transaction merely to make a total agree.
The table is read-only and selectable for context. Reversed transactions remain included in this calculation. As of Date limits transaction dates, while owners and relationships reflect current records; this is not an immutable historical snapshot.
The USD650 attributed balance and the USD80 unapplied item belong to different review populations, so both can be correct. Assigned means an owner was resolved for this analysis; inspect the underlying splits and other controls before concluding that attribution is correct.
