Subscription Coverage
A subscription can have a commitment and funding activity before its investor accounting history is represented. The capital account supplies that accounting relationship. Missing coverage leaves no account through which to explain the investor's ledger movements; overlapping accounts can split or duplicate that history. Correct Entity, class, currency and lifecycle dates identify the intended relationship.
Open Accounting → Fees & Capital Allocations → Subscription Coverage to test whether eligible subscriptions have exactly one appropriately scoped capital account. Start here when investor reports or roll-forwards appear incomplete, before interpreting an absent account as a zero balance.
Find the missing relationship
Select Entity and Accounting Period. Optionally narrow Share Class. Exceptions hides Ready results; All includes them.
Fictional Cedarbridge Core Subscription #1 is Blocked: “Subscription has no capital account.” Capital Accounts is 0. The subscription is active, but its commitment and cash funding have not created capital-account history in this example.
What is tested
This is a relationship check before an amount check. It asks whether one usable accounting home exists for the subscription during the review window. Funding, correct movement amounts and Posted journals are later questions; an account can pass coverage while those later steps remain unfinished.
One row represents an eligible subscription overlapping the period. The population excludes Pending and Canceled subscriptions and uses the subscription's current status plus effective/close dates. It is not limited exclusively to status Active.
The control requires exactly one capital account overlapping that period, with matching Entity, Share Class and commitment currency:
- Zero accounts: missing coverage.
- More than one: duplicate coverage.
- One with inconsistent dimensions/currency: incorrect mapping.
- One passing those tests: Ready for this coverage check.
The displayed Capital Account reference is not a substitute for reviewing a duplicate count; when several accounts exist, one displayed ID does not mean there is only one.
Resolve the gap
- Open Subscription and Share Class to confirm the intended ownership, effective dates and currency.
- Review the account registry in Capital Accounts. Check overlapping open/close dates and all accounts for that subscription.
- Have the accounting owner establish or correct the registry relationship through the authorized workflow. Investigate duplicate history before changing or removing any account.
- Refresh this control, then inspect Class Roll-Up and the actual capital movements.
Coverage does not test whether funding occurred, whether a movement has the correct amount, or whether its journal is Posted. Ready here is not capital-accounting completion.
If no rows appear, check the scope and subscription statuses first: Pending subscriptions are outside this population. Unresolved ignored-exception comments can also suppress records. A hidden record has not necessarily been corrected.
