Activity → Cash
Use Fund Operations → FundOps Recon → Activity → Cash to start from a cash-moving operating activity and check its stored Cash Split links and matched amount. Cash Recon → Cash Splits Recon starts from the other side: the Cash Split.
The current Entity filter can include activities dated after As of Date. Matched amounts also use current stored links without a historical cash cutoff. This tab is not proof of settlement as of the selected date. Check the activity date and the linked Account Transaction date independently. Clearing Entity applies the activity-date cutoff, but does not make the matched amounts historical.
Know which records are checked
Start from the operating event that should have a cash consequence. A contribution or cash distribution records that event; a commitment or call records participation or a request, so it is not another cash-moving event to settle here. The split links identify which recorded cash portions are assigned to the event.
The control asks whether those linked portions cover the event’s amount. It can identify an activity with no cash link or an incomplete linked amount without treating every notice as an unpaid payment. Non-cash settlement categories have their own treatment and must be interpreted in the originating activity.
Each row is one Investment Activity, Subscription Activity, Expense or Income. Investment and Subscription rows include cash-moving categories such as Contributions, distributions, Purchases and Redemptions. Commitments and notice-only Capital Calls are outside this population. Stock, in-kind and deemed-contribution Investment/Subscription settlements are excluded.
An excluded non-cash activity is not a missing payment. Review it in its operating app and Activity Explorer.
Entity comes from the Subscription's receiving Share Class, the Expense/Income's own Entity, or an Investment's allocation relationships through owner Share Classes. Investments associated with several Entities do not have a single Entity value in this check and can disappear under a selected Entity. Clear the selector and investigate the allocation relationships before concluding that a record is missing.
Start with exceptions, then inspect the population
The table's configured filter is Recon Status → Not equals → Matched. A blank table can mean no exceptions among the eligible rows, not that the organization has no activity.
To inspect the worked example, choose Cedarbridge Example Fund LP #1 and August 31, 2026. Open Filter, remove the Recon Status condition and choose Apply Filters. This changes the displayed result, not the underlying records. To return to exceptions, add Recon Status → Not equals → Matched and apply it.
Three fictional activities, with the exceptions-only condition removed. Each has one stored split link. The Cash Explorer links are available at the example's August 31 cutoff.
Read the Activity reference with Type: Expense #1, Investment Activity #2 and Subscription Activity #3 are different records, not a shared ID sequence.
Read amounts and statuses
Amount and Matched Amount have different perspectives. The source value retains the activity’s sign convention; the matched figure is a positive magnitude used to test coverage. Difference is zero when the linked magnitude covers the source magnitude. A link can exist yet leave a difference, and equal magnitudes can still leave the transaction date, currency or bank evidence to investigate.
Read the calculation rules before changing a link allocation. One unallocated single link can use its full split amount as a fallback; several links need explicit allocations to identify each portion. An absent allocation in a shared relationship is missing information, not another payment and not automatically zero.
Scroll horizontally to Cash Matching. Amount is the signed source activity value. Matched Amount is a positive magnitude derived from the linked allocations; Difference = Matched Amount − absolute Amount. For one link without an allocated amount, the calculation can use the Cash Split's full amount. Multiple links require explicit allocation amounts.
The same rows after horizontal scrolling: Expense USD1,200; Investment Contribution −USD40,000; Subscription Contribution −USD100,000. Matched magnitudes are USD1,200, USD40,000 and USD100,000; every Difference is zero. These signed operating values are not bank cash directions.
For the Core subscription, the source Contribution is −USD100,000 and the bank receipt is +USD100,000. This check compares the contribution's USD100,000 magnitude with the linked allocation magnitude, producing Difference zero. It answers whether the stored linked amount agrees; inspect the transaction date and receipt evidence separately to answer when cash arrived.
- Unmatched: no Cash Split link was found. Confirm whether cash is actually due or received before creating a link.
- Invalid: the activity amount, referenced split, split amount or required link allocation is missing. Read Recon Issue to identify the owning record.
- Mismatched: the calculated linked amount differs from the activity magnitude.
- Matched: this amount/link check passes. It does not establish correct currency, payment date, bank reconciliation, posted accounting or close approval.
This check does not use the one-cent tolerance from Cash Splits Recon: differences of USD0.01 can still be Mismatched here. Do not change a source amount merely to clear a status.
Expand Cash Matching for Allocated Amount, Cash Splits and Links. Those counts describe stored link records and existing split references; inspect the actual records if duplicate or partial links are suspected. Do not total this mixed activity list as fund cash flow.
Follow the evidence and correct its owner
Activity Explorer opens Fund Overview's shared activity trail for that source. Cash Explorer opens Cash's Transaction Explorer for linked settlement. The example Expense #1 opens Cash Split #3, a USD1,200 outflow. Cash Splits opens the source-filtered Cash Split link records.
A blank Cash Explorer link does not necessarily mean there are no stored links: eligibility also depends on the selected date, non-reversed transactions, account Entity and an installed Cash app. Recheck scope after following any link.
For an error, compare the activity, linked split, allocated amount and dated transaction. Correct the evidenced source record in Subscriptions, Investments or Incomes & Expenses, or the settlement/link in Cash, with the required permissions. Refresh this check and confirm the specific issue clears. Never create duplicate activities or cash transactions to force a match.
Select rows when you need their record context for an available assistant workflow; selection itself changes no records and does not authorize an action.
